The Palm Pre is the most recent in a line of products to take a swipe at the iPhone. The Pre adds some nice features to this howdy tech rich contraption. One of the most electrifying is the Activity Cards that let you to change from application to application simply, very like you would on your house PC system. There is not any need to close down an application and open another one up. Mixed messaging allows you to group talks with the same person in an easily followed format.

So now you can simply track talks in IM, e-mail or text on one straightforward screen.

You also will be able to see who is available on the internet and can simply start up a new conversation right in the same group. The Layered Calendar and Linked Contacts pull together your Outlook, Google and Facebook calendars into one cohesive view. And there isn’t any need to fret about your contacts be spread throughout various areas, Pre will pull them into one place also.

You can see when your appointments are, new with the added Intuitive Notifications feature and updated e-mail and texts with a bottom screen notification so it is less intrusive than other competing products. Very similar to the iPhone applications will be a giant part of the Pre, however it’ll take time for the Pre to become populated with apps like the iPhone. But over time more developers will see the power of the Pre and strength of the Palm brand and build on this platform too. The Pre is lovely, smooth and robust and includes a slide out keypad that actually adds functionality that isn’t available with the iPhone. Like the iPhone you can turn the system and view from wide-screen or hold it in ordinary view. Picture standard is colourful and really stands out and the camera produces striking pictures.

It is too early to inform how much competition the Pre will be to the iPhone, but it’s a great alternative for Run users who desire (or have) to stay with the service. With the  functionality provided in the Pre and power of Palm this telephone is the most recent in a long line of howdy tech gizmos available to us.
